technical terms 1

1. Mhz-(megahertz) a mesurement of speed used to describe now fast a computer can process information

2. network-the means of connecting one computer to another whether both computers are in the same room or in different countries

3. GB-(gigabyte) a measurement of size generally for hard drives

4. boot- the term used to describe the start-up of a computer

5. ram- (ramdom access memory ) temporary memory used by a computer to store information

6. resolution-an indacator of how many pixels are used to create a picture

7. non-system disk error- an error message that usually means a floppy disk has been left in the computer when it was turned off

8. firewall-a means of blocking outside users from having network access to computers within a system

9. bit-the smallest unit of measurement used in defining computer memory

10. ROM-(read only memory) permanent memory uased by a computer in order for it to know how to function as soon as it is turned on

10.GIF does better on images with only a few distinct colors and also does better with a few more images than JPEG can. JPEG has a hard time with sharp edges. GIF has great image quality. JPEG can not hold very much but GIF can hold more larger areas than JPEG can and more efficantly. Plain black and white images should not be converted to JPEG it should always be converted a to GIF. IF you use JPEG and pure-black pixles adjacent to a row of pure-white piaxles.
